PLASTIC
Trivial designation for synthetic and semi-synthetic polymers; distinction is made between thermoplastics (can be re-formed, e.g. PVC, PP), thermoset plastics (cannot be re-formed, e.g. PUR, hardened epoxides) and elastomers (all cold-formed rubbers); generally speaking, only films produced from thermoplastics are suitable for printing; also processed into blow-moulded packing materials.

Plástico: Término genérico para designar los polímeros sintéticos y semisintéticos,se distingue entre los termoplásticos (pueden ser re-formados, por ejemplo, PVC, PP), los plásticos termoestables (no se pueden re-formar, por ejemplo, PUR, epóxidos endurecidos) y elastómeros (Hules formados en frío), en general solo las películas formadas a partir de los termoplásticos son adecuados para la impresión, que se utilizan también en moldeado por soplado de materiales de embalaje.

PVC
Polyvinyl chloride; average to good transparency, rigid. Is the most widely used chlororganic plastic. In the printing industry, it is widely used for credit card production and in the packaging industry. Available in colors.

PET
Polyethylene terephthalate; Is the most important thermoplastic polymer of the polyester family. highly crease-resistant condensation polymer. Its hight tear strength makes PET an ideal material for film sheets of all thicknesses,. Aplplications range from aroma-tight food packaging to coloured sun-protection films and test strips for the pharmaceuticals industry. It is today almost impossible to imagine the soft drinks industry without PET bottles. Its excellent transparency makes it ideal for folded packaging.

Tereftalato de polietileno: Es el polímero termoplástico más importante de la familia del polyester. Polímero de condensación, sumamente resistente a los pliegues. PP
Polypropylene; average to good transparency, glossy, wax-like, rigid. Is the overall designation for a series of weldable thermoplastic polymers which stand out by way of their great hardness, rigidity and heat resistance. PP is processed in sheets for applications such as merchandising strips, folding boxes, folders, placemats, shelf extenders.

Polipropileno: posee de mediana a buena transparencia, es brilloso, de superficie parecida a la cera, rígido. Es la designación general de una serie de termoplásticos que se pueden soldar y que destacan por su gran dureza, rigidez y resistencia al calor. El polipropileno se produce en hojas para aplicaciones como tiras exhibidoras, cajas plegadizas, folders plásticos, displays, manteletas.

PE
Polyethylene; polyolefin polymer with average to good transparency, wax-like, low gloss, average rigidity, it displays a low density, but at the same time high strength, hardness and resistance to chemicals. Is used for environment-friendly self-adhesive foils and extremely tear-resistant sheet.

Polietileno: polímero de poliolefina con buen promedio de transparencia, parecido a la cera, tiene un brillo bajo y su rigidez es la promedio, muestra una baja densidad, pero al mismo tiempo posee alta resistencia, dureza y resistencia a productos químicos. Es usado para hacer láminas autoadhesivas y hojas muy resistentes amigables con el medio ambiente.

PS
Polystyrene; The film or pure polystyrene film is very transparent, bright and fairly rigid with very low impact resistance. Its primary use is given in expanded or inflated state. This state is a major buffering agent and thermal barrier. It is used mostly in manufacturing semi-rigid thermoformed packaging such as yogurt cups. The film is used for making bags and wrappers. It is also used for the manufacture of displays and signs.

Poliestireno: El film o película de poliestireno puro es muy transparente, brillante y bastante rígido con muy baja resistencia al impacto. Su uso fundamental se da en estado expandido o insuflado. En este estado es un gran agente amortiguador y barrera térmica. Se emplea mayoritariamente en la fabricación de empaques semirigidos termoformados como los vasos de yogurt. El film se utiliza para la fabricación de bolsas y envolturas. También se utiliza para la fabricación de displays y letreros.
